Coffee & Diabetes
A group of researchers at the University of Minnesota claims that coffee drinking can lower the risks of developing type 2 diabetes. See the article here. However, this positive effect may be significant statistically, while rather meaningless for folks who want to shed a few pounds. You have to drink more than 6 cups of coffee to have 22% less chance for type 2 diabetes. The number goes up to 33% if it is decaf. I wonder if the researches consider the extra calories burned by these heavy drinkers for those extra trips to the bathroom. It might well be that the extra physical activities due to nature's call, rather than coffee drinking, resulted in the observed results.
